Founded in 1996
Bodegas Salentein sits in Los Arboles, Tunuyan department, in the heart of the Uco Valley, about 110 kilometres (roughly 1 hour 40 minutes) from Mendoza city. The cross-shaped main building stands at 1,200 metres above sea level, surrounded by its own vineyards with the snow-capped Andes behind it. The underground cellar, nine metres below ground, holds around 5,000 French oak barrels at a constant 12 degrees Celsius. Visits must be booked in advance: the guided experiences walk through vineyards, production areas and the barrel room, ending with a four-glass tasting of lines such as Reserva, Numina, Pr1mus or Alyda Van Salentein. Every experience includes access to Killka, the winery's art space. The estate also houses the Salentein Cocina de Origen restaurant and the Posada Salentein inn.
