History

Founded in 1931

Bodega Carmine Granata is a family winery founded in 1931 by Italian immigrant Carmine Granata in Mayor Drummond, Luján de Cuyo, one of Mendoza's pioneering wine districts. Today the third and fourth generations continue the legacy, producing wines under three lines: Nicolás Granata, Carmine Granata (Alta Gama and Clasicos) and Francisco Granata, with Malbec as the flagship varietal from vineyards in Las Compuertas and Vistalba, above 1,000 meters elevation. The winery occupies the family's original manor house, once the Paula Albarracin de Sarmiento school, and holds a small museum of historic winemaking machinery. Guided visits tour the barrel room and bottling area, ending with a tasting in the cellar; advance booking via WhatsApp is required, as tour slots are limited.
