History

Founded in 1928

Bodegas Bianchi is San Rafael's most visited winery, about 230 km south of Mendoza city via Route 40 and Route 143. The family has made wine here since 1928, when Italian immigrant Valentín Bianchi opened his first cellar, El Chiche; in 1995 his son Enzo built the white-domed sparkling-wine winery at Route 143 and Calle Valentín Bianchi, in Alto Las Paredes, which now receives more than 55,000 visitors a year. The tourism hall is open Tuesday to Saturday, 9:00 to 17:30, closed Sunday and Monday. Guided experiences — a vineyard and winery walk, a vineyard bike ride, and a blend-your-own-wine workshop — all require advance booking by phone or at turismo@bodegasbianchi.com.ar. A wine-and-charcuterie board and a self-guided three-glass tasting are available without a reservation. Tastings cover the Famiglia Bianchi range plus the traditional-method sparkling wine in the family's private cellar.
