History

Founded in 1921

Clos de Chacras is a family winery founded in 1921, its adobe walls raised by Swiss and Italian immigrants in the middle of the village of Chacras de Coria, Luján de Cuyo, ten minutes from Mendoza city. Unlike almost every other Mendoza bodega, you can walk to it from the village square. The Gargantini-Genoud family recovered the property in 1987 and restored it in 2003. The tour takes in the original 1921 concrete tanks and the underground cellar, and closes with a guided tasting. The restaurant, Clos Restó, sits beside a lake and a vineyard, serving 4-course and 8-course tasting menus paired with the estate's wines under chef Santiago López. Lunch only, Wednesday to Sunday, by advance reservation.
