LUJAN DE CUYO
History
Founded in 1895
Bodega Norton sits in Perdriel, Luján de Cuyo, on Ruta 15 km 23.5, about 20 minutes from Mendoza city at 950 metres above sea level. British engineer Edmund James Palmer Norton founded it in 1895; the Austrian Langes-Swarovski family has owned it since 1989. Malbec is the backbone, drawn from the original Perdriel estate plus the Lunlunta, Agrelo and La Colonia vineyards, and Norton was among the first four wineries to earn the Luján de Cuyo D.O.C. Visits are booked online and walk through the production area, the formal gardens, Casa Norton and the historic underground cellar, where the tasting takes place. Tours run in Spanish, English and Portuguese. The on-site restaurant, La Vid Terraza, serves tasting menus facing the vines and the Andes.
