History

Familia Otero Ramos is a family-owned boutique winery at Aráoz 2750, Mayor Drummond district, Luján de Cuyo, Mendoza's first wine-growing zone and the only one in the world with a Denomination of Origin for Malbec. It was founded by Manuel Otero Ramos, a Spanish immigrant who acquired land at 900 meters elevation in the late 1990s to build a Spanish-style winery with an underground cellar. The estate grows Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Tannat, Pinot Noir, Petit Verdot, Chardonnay, Torrontés and Sauvignon Blanc across 62 hectares split between Luján de Cuyo and Valle de Uco. Its flagship label, Suipacha Reserva Malbec, won Mundus Vini Gold (2015), 91 points from Decanter (2018) and Vinus Double Gold (2020). Visits are guided and personalized, touring the vineyard and cellar followed by a tasting at a family-style table, with advance booking required via WhatsApp or Winerybooking.
