Founded in 1884
Founded in 1884 by Miguel Escorihuela Gascón, this is the oldest winery in the city of Mendoza and still operates in its original building at Belgrano 1188, Godoy Cruz, minutes from downtown Mendoza. That is genuinely unusual: most Mendoza wineries sit 30 to 60 kilometres out in Luján de Cuyo, Maipú or the Uco Valley. The historic cellar, with its large oak casks, remains in production use. Estate vineyards are at Finca Agrelo in Luján de Cuyo and Finca Cordón El Cepillo in the Uco Valley, feeding lines including Familia Gascón, Escorihuela Gascón, Gran Reserva, Pequeñas Producciones, The President's and the icon DON. As of 7 August 2026 guided visits and tastings are suspended pending a reopening; the 1884 by Francis Mallmann restaurant inside the winery continues to operate.
