History

Founded in 2000

Finca Decero sits at Bajo las Cumbres 9003 in Agrelo, Luján de Cuyo, and makes wine only from its own Remolinos Vineyard, planted from scratch in 2000 by Swiss entrepreneur Thomas Schmidheiny at 1,050 metres above sea level. The vineyard is farmed in small blocks the team calls polygons, each harvested and vinified separately, planted to Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Tannat, Syrah and Chardonnay. The winery won the Great Wine Capitals trophy for Best Landscape and Architecture in 2009. Visits are by advance reservation only and walk the vineyard, tank room and barrel room before a guided tasting. Options run from the Signature line to a ten-wine portfolio flight, and the restaurant serves multi-course lunches seven days a week.
