History
Founded in 1998
Bodega Monteviejo sits in Vista Flores, Tunuyán, in Mendoza's Uco Valley, about 120 km from Mendoza city and between 1,000 and 1,200 metres above sea level. It was founded in 1998 by French owner Catherine Péré-Vergé, proprietor of Pomerol châteaux, as part of the Clos de los Siete project led by Michel Rolland; her daughter Hélène Parent and granddaughter Elise Treiber run it today, with José Mounier as head winemaker. The winery works by gravity, with a double sorting line and an underground barrel cellar. Its ranges are La Violeta, Lindaflor, Petite Fleur and Festivo, built mainly on Malbec, Cabernet Franc and Chardonnay. Visits must be booked in advance and combine a tour of the cellars, guided tastings and food experiences in the top-floor restaurant, which looks out over the Andes.
