History

Founded in 2003

Bodega Jorge Rubio is a family-owned winery founded in 2003 by winemaker Jorge Alberto Rubio, located on Ruta 143 Norte and Calle F in General Alvear, in the far south of Mendoza province, roughly 320 km from Mendoza City. Its three vineyard plots cover more than 55 hectares of Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay in the Oasis Sur (Southern Oasis) region. The winery produces over 35 labels across several lines, including Finca Gabriel — its flagship wine line, not a separate winery, despite what the website's domain name suggests — along with Privado Reserva and Gran Reserva Bicentenario. Visits must be booked online at least 24 hours in advance and include a guided tour with a tasting of one to three wines depending on the package chosen; there is no restaurant on site, only a simple pairing of nuts and breadsticks.
