Founded in 2003
La Azul is a small family winery in the Uco Valley, in Tupungato, at the foot of the Cordón del Plata range. The Hinojosa family has farmed these vineyards for more than sixty years, but the winery itself was founded in 2003 and its restaurant opened in 2011. The vineyards sit at around 1,200 metres above sea level, in Agua Amarga (Tupungato) and Vista Flores (Tunuyán). The portfolio covers Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay, alongside the Azul Reserva, Azul Gran Reserva, El Buscapleito and the Jauría blend. A visit pairs a morning tasting and cellar tour (10:30 or 11:30 am) with a multi-course criollo lunch — pickled dishes, empanadas, asado and slow-braised bondiola — matched to the estate's wines and served between 12:30 and 2:30 pm. Reservation is required.
