History

Founded in 1898

Bodega Don Bosco sits in Rodeo del Medio, Maipú, on Ruta Provincial 50, on a vineyard estate donated to the Salesians in 1898 to found an agricultural school. It is one of Mendoza's oldest wineries, preserving an underground cellar dating to 1880 and a 35-meter gravity-flow wine tower built in 1968, unique in Latin America, holding 2,500,000 liters. The provincial government declared it a Heritage Tourist Site, the "Cradle of Argentine Enology." Its signature wines are Malbec and Lambrusco Maestri, an Italian varietal produced only here, alongside a Licoroso wine aged in oak barrels for up to twenty years. Guided visits trace the winery's history, from the original 1880s cellar to the modern facilities opened in 2007, including a guided tasting of estate-made wines and olive oils.
